Neck Pain
Other than poor posture, neck pain can also be due to stress or sleeping wrong- this causes the muscles to spasm and tighten on one side. Your neck has to balance and support a head that weight approximately 6-8 pounds. If your neck is anterior to your shoulder you are carrying more than double the weight against gravity. In return, you are putting more pressure on your disc causing it to flatten and soon your vertebra can become arthritic. Often, a headache is a sign of either a Subluxation of your upper neck and/or poor posture. Is your head on straight? Do you have neck pain or a headache? Your best bet is to get checked by a chiropractor… especially one who does Chiropractic Biophysics as they focus on correcting bad posture. Your chiropractor will fully examine you and most will take x-rays to determine why you are experiencing neck pain. Studies show those who receive chiropractic care for neck pain have a better outcome than those who take medication. Remember: neck pain is not a normal finding!
